Pitch Deck Teardown: SimbaChain's $25M Series A deck

Please grab a cup of espresso and strap in because this pitch deck teardown is unique from most of the ones I've performed thus far.

1. This is a blockchain pitch. The field deck is for Simba Chain, a blockchain organization that raised $25 million in Series A. It's hella brave of them to put up their patio for a teardown. If you comply with me on Twitter, you've probably noticed that of every 3 or 4 tweets, one has me making amusing of blockchain tech.

It isn't that I wouldn't say I like the folks who construct blockchains; however, in the decade or order that's been following the industry, I even have strumbled upon simplest a tiny handful of businesses that make sense to me (Arkive is one, & I did a teardown of its deck, too). Most of the time, I accomplish that it's a crying shame that humans this proficient are throwing away their time and skills building something in this area.

I know the ones are harsh phrases, and I hasten to add that that's my opinion, not that of the ctr standard. (Besides, you wouldn't want me writing approximately this while we have an extraordinary crypto/blockchain/web3 team masking it.) I did want to say it because as much as I'll try to be impartial, my disdain for blockchain tech will nearly genuinely show via this teardown.

2. Ctrdidn't cover the spherical! The Wall Street Journal covered the spherical, as did CoinDesk. I recognize I realize, that's pretty a good deal one of the rules for the pitch deck teardowns.

Suffice it to approximately that I'm stretching my expertise to the max right here, but I invite you to consider  matters:

I mustn't have deep know-how of blockchain tech to critique the pitch. Many individuals who buy my book and work with me as a pitch teacher are walking companies in areas I understand nothing about.

Storytelling is well-known, and as long as the founders know what they're speaking about, I can assist with the pitch side of factors.

So here's an invite: Let's see this as a journey we can go on together, and when you have feedback, thoughts, or feedback, experience free to write them on a bit of paper and set it on fi … I suggest experience unfastened to make a laugh of me on Twitter. I promise to be open-minded.

Three things to like

There are two methods to make cash in a gold rush: One is to dig out a giant honking nugget of heavy, yellow steel; the alternative is to deliver the miners with selections, shovels, and TNT.

I love how clear Simba Chain makes that it miles doing the latter — and no longer just for all and sundry. The organization has been operating with a great list of customers, inclusive of ones (inclusive of the U.S. Navy) who might be notoriously hard to land contracts with. Simba Chain leans on its customers'' to make its tale come to existence in the terrain and storytelling.

Crystal-clean vision

A lot of organizations find it highly hard to discern their raisond'etre. When you're an early-degree startup jogging a blue-ocean approach, a thousand possibilities come your way at each flip. Cutting through the noise with a clear, planned vision, followed by implementable methods and repeatable operations, is the way to build a quick-developing, successful agency.

This vision slide has plenty of clarity: "'Picks & shovels' of the blockchain rush" is ChefsKiss.Gif, and "What Stripe is to bills, Simba can be to blockchain" nails it down more brutally. I want this turned into the second slide because it gives even a series skeptic like myself a cause to nod my head and mutter, "I see what you did there," below my breath.

There are a few head-scratchers right here, so I'll quickly name them: I don't know what traction or buyers are doing on a vision slide — it dilutes the message and muddles the story. If the closing two bullets on this slide were moved somewhere else, this would be a perfect putting-the-tone slide for this pitch.
